About Me

Kendra,

BS, RVT, VTS (EVN)

Raised on a dairy farm in Kansas my love for animals bloomed. Growing up, 4-H was a large part of my life. I participated in dairy, dog and foods as my primary projects, with showing dairy cattle being my absolute favorite. After graduating high school, I attended Kansas State University where I received my Bachelor of Science in Sociology/Criminology with a minor in Animal Sciences. Yes, my life was headed in a different direction at one point.

After a 4 year stint on another career path, I realized veterinary medicine was my calling. However, I still knew I did not want to be a veterinarian, which is why I strayed from this path to begin with. Eventually, I found veterinary technology. I attended Maple Woods (Metropolitan Community College) Veterinary Technology program and graduated as valedictorian in May 2015.

Once graduated, my husband and I relocated to western Washington state. In Washington state I worked as a mixed animal Licensed Veterinary Technician in mostly mobile settings. I also have held roles of lead technician and practice manager. In the last two years in Washington I started my own business providing relief services to allow for schedule flexibility for my kids.

In January 2022 we started a new journey and moved to Indiana. Currently, I hold a position as a treatment technician in the large animal hospital at Purdue University.

My most recent accomplishment is acceptance into the Academy of Equine Veterinary Nursing Technicians. Gaining the additional credentials of VTS (EVN).

Navigation as a new, or aspiring, credentialed veterinary technician can be difficult. My goal moving forward is to help support newcomers to this field.
